Get the non-k and make sure to never get any BIOS update. Non-K skylakes can be overclocked using BCLK as long as your MOBO isn't patched to remove the feature (intel told them to)

yeah that's a shit way to oc, it's ok when used in conjunction with upping multiplier but you end up with a cpu running way faster than it needs to over half the time.

it was good for the 1st gen i5s and such, but multiplier has better range

just get the k and 1070, they are a good combo, fuck the 1060

It really depends on what you want to get that framerate on. The kinds of games where you really want that framerate is the kind where it's easy to get. Also I can push 144 fps with a stock clock 4690k and a 970 in almost every game on medium or so, I think a 6500 and a 1070 can do it.

possibly make RAM oc higher, but it seems like a lot of trial and error
I'm happy with my 6600k @ 4.5Ghz and RAM @ 3100Mhz.. NB hits 3900Mhz and it's stable as fuck

If I get bored one day I may fuck with the BCLK but I haven't touched that since my i5 760, had it wound up to 180 I think, sat @ 4Ghz

Non-K Skylake overclocks have gone up to 4.5GHz on just a Hyper 212

crank that BCLK up on non k and your idle speed will be sitting much higher to hit that 4.5

The price difference isn't that big, get a small loan or something if you have to.

I just bought a 6700k with a 1070 so I can upgrade the GPU from time to time but not touch the rest.
