Tomorrow I am going to look at a computer monitor a friend of a friend is selling, for £50 (That's around $63)
The story is, they bought it from somewhere for relatively cheap, looking to use it as their television.
It has VGA and DVI input but obviously them being less technical don't know to pipe television into that, they were expecting it to have HDMI, Scart etc etc.
Now the thing is, it is 60". Sixty-fucking-inches.
They've got a stand for it, they've got cables and a remote control. They claim it has no blemishes or burn-in but like I said i'm going to see it tomorrow. I don't know the make or model, I don't know the technical specification
Now the fact that it has a remote control but only VGA or DVI input tells me that it's some sort of presentation/board-room display, what do you think?
Lack of HDMI probably means it isn't terribly new and i'm thinking it possibly doesn't support HD resolutions?
If it does support at least 1920x1080 then i'll hook it to my PC and have it on the long wall of the livingroom as a film display.
If it doesn't then i'll probably still hook it up but use it for playstation games or something.
What do you guys think? Should I snap it up or should I sit this one out?
Pic not related other than being a screen.
Anybody?
Is this unknown monitor too much of a gamble? I won't be able to test it at her house (I'll turn it on but they have nothing that can send it a signal) but she is a close friend of a lifelong friend so the chances of them shitting on me deliberately are low I think.
Would you buy it for that price?
for 63$ i would take it. Even if i wont use it i would still take it. The least you could do is sell. I mean roughly a $/inch. Just be sure it doesnt have any problems. Sounds like a scam

bring a laptop and vga cable

>1080p on 60''
Unless you watch it from 6-7 meters away, it will look like shit.

Yeah it's setting my alarms ringing but I guess i'm not obligated to buy so no harm in looking eh?

That's a good idea but unfortunately the only portable computer I have is a chuwi hi8 tablet which lacks and form of video output.

Of course, I'll not be using it my desktop screen haha.

If the thing is working and doesn't have any flaws, I'd take it for $63. Remember to use DVI and no VGA when you plug it.

do they not know that hdmi is compatible with dvi and literally just needs a £3 adaptor?
I would definitely buy it. 60 inches jeez

Hey thanks for your input, that's a good idea.
I'm sorry, I'm not knowledgeable in these areas but would it not be likely to require an active adapter as opposed to a cheap passive adapter? Or am I just being an idiot and that depends entirely upon the source? Or, am I being even stupider and it doesn't matter at all?
