Every single mac currently out, except for the desktop model, is a bad buy because most havent been updated in years, and the ones that have are completely gimped.

Why don't you make your own decision OP? If you like the feel of the Macbook Air go ahead and buy one. The MagSafe charger is a pretty neat feature and you can easily install whatever OS you feel most comfortable with on it.
