it's sad that nobody on /g/, or 4chan for that matter, knows that UN is the most corrupt, ineffective, nepotistic organization in the fucking world.

just giving over internet to them, (whatever the fuck that means) should actually be celebrated with a fanfare here, just due to how fucking useless UN is in regulating ANYTHING

It's not going to the UN, it's going to ICANN. Whatever country ICANN decides to move to will get control of the internet.

If they move to the EU then you can expect that everything leftists don't like will become hate speech and be banned.

If they move to the Russia or China everything that those countries don't like will be banned.
>>
icann isn't being handed over to anyone, they're breaking ties with the us government as they stated their intention to do some time ago. there is a list of board members that were brought into the organization and what their roles are and reasons for being there listed on icann's site
>>
>>56861567

ICANN is being given control only under the condition that it not let any government or intergovernmental agency replace the role previously held by the US government. This may require ICANN to stay in the US.

>under the condition that it not let any government or intergovernmental agency replace the role previously held by the US government.

That's pathetically weak considering it will be too late to do anything if they choose to ignore that condition.

Regardless of the condition if they move to another country they will be subject to the laws of that country, not ours.

So again if they move to the EU then everything leftists dislike will become hate speech and be banned.

They could probably also do it themselves with economic growth as an excuse or simply the excuse of 'hate speech is not free expression'.

You'll act like it's ok but you'll get banned for being even PG on other sites thanks to this place satisfying your thirst for (you's) and being getting butt hurt.

I've been here since mid 2006. Over ten years and I keep finding new reasons to love this place. There's really not many other things like it, if you think about it. Sure it's a shithole and always has been, as long as I can remember - no doubt. But it's the best kind of shithole - it's a shithole where you are free.

I suppose it is inevitable that like all things, 4chan will eventually die. But when it does I am confident that someone, somewhere, is still hosting a site that can at least approximate the environment of free expression that makes the culture here possible. As long as there are humans, and an internet, and a device to browse it with, we will find a way.

this guy may be sprung, but hes a god damn genius. If we could write code like that we could do literally anything in a matter of seconds.

We could crash power grids with a cell phone. We could cause plane crashes with a pager. We would have godlike power.

This guy could probably start WW3. He is sitting on a mountain of repressed anger and is so smart he hardly belongs here on earth.

I'm a little bit terrified of him to be honest. Hes doing his best just to be a decent human being, but with that kind of power? That kind of responsibility?

Its no wonder hes a little nuts.

ICANN is also where IP addresses "come from" so to speak.

Now the UN not only has the ability to make your domain name not resolved but take your number and give it to someone else.

It over.

don't think it'll all happen at once. everything will seem fine for a while. but piece by piece the internet will slowly start to disappear until all that is left are huge, megacorps like google who can afford to stay afloat.

It's finished.

Mainstream news can't be expected to report on technical matters precisely. It doesn't help that idiots like Ted Cruz are making a big deal of less government control.

Pretty much all US did was manage root zones/TLDs. These are things like .com or .xxx (one of the few cases where US regulators got involved). One big change is that the US no longer has to approve TLDs

there is no such thing as a non profit company or organization.
its all to further and agenda and evade taxes.
sauce me.
my family is filthy fucking rich and we pay less taxes than a guy with 60k+ student debt.
my father is the part of the board several major "charity" organization.
all he does is donate large sums of money to a "cause" which translates to basically no taxes.
it functions like this:
>be part of charity you are donating too
>donate loads of money to basically yourself
>donations arent taxed
>income from donations isnt taxed
>only a fraction of the actual donation goes into the charity the rest goes back into your pocked tax free
>the tiny fraction that goes to the charity is significantly less money than you would have payed as taxes.
>everyone thinks you are a great person for doing a good thing
>in actuality you control every one that works for that charity since you literally pay then and they will do whatever you tell them to do because they actually get payed this way.
>you get to legally evade taxes and push agendas and control other things
>get "donations" from other people that want you to push their agendas which is basically tax free legal bribery

literally every rich person does this.

It's everything.

It's also worth clarifying to that it isn't being directly handed from the US govt to the UN; the problem is that ICANN is a legally operating monopoly and will need to seek out another large agency to overlook it to keep that status. The problem is that the larger agency will most likely be the UN. So in theory this could lead to a more free internet, it'll most likely lead to a much worse internet.

Yup, desktop threads, video games and phone threads are apparently more relevant to technology than the end of the internet, or how hiroshima nagasaki just doubled the reply timer site-wide while disguising this as "pass holders have a lesser timer" (also lied about passes being $5 for the next 48 hours and changed it to a mere 25% off).

So they're worried about their headsets being fuzzy?

Does that sound right to you? Why don't drive through fast food places make you turn off your phone? Maybe because their headsets work fine, and the restaraunt can't fall out of the sky?
>>
>>56872835
There's more electronics than just headsets. The FAA likes to go overboard on safety regulations, and they figured that the easiest way to avoid any kind of interference with anything would be to ask people to turn off their cell phones. You can't crash a plane with a cell phone unless you beat the pilots to death with it.
It's not some grand conspiracy.
>>
>>56872044
It's not distributed, it's merely got a few repeaters. That's the problem with nntp chan, it's effectively tpb + mirrors except with fuckall hosts and users.
Zeronet is even more of a honeypot than nsa.gov on top of being such a ridiculously massive, unblockable security issue by its very design, that you'd have to be beyond braindead (or simply uninformed) to touch it.

>anything zeronet needs full js available so you CANNOT block any of these attack vectors whatsoever
>you must use an ID to post
>even if the site doesn't display the ID, it is available through the files you need to download for zeronet to display the site, and a simple grep allows you to fetch every single post of a given user, even across sites
Those are only the more obvious issues.

Because it's fucking retarded to think you can crash a plane with a cell phone, I'm an amateur radio operator, working on my PPL, read extensive material on how aircraft systems work, what makes them fail, and all sorts of other aviation related material, and studying electrical engineering, so I have a tiny bit of an idea about how all this works together.

Are you really pretending like smartphones aren't pocket computers? And with computers we can do anything to computer operated shit. On top of the fact that the airlines already know we can fuck them up with just a refusal to turn it off.
>>
>>56873028
Modern smartphones are somewhat limited in comparisoion to the pocket computers of the past.
>>
>>56873028
>we can do anything to computer operated shit. On top of the fact that the airlines already know we can fuck them up with just a refusal to turn it off.
No, you can't do "Anything to computer operated shit" with a smartphone. Smartphones have their limits, as do everything else. Watchdogs isn't real life. The airlines/FAA would rather cover their asses by asking people to turn off their phones as a safety precaution. You're equating a safety precaution to assurance that cell phones can crash an aircraft.
Address your plan for taking down a plane with a "limetless" smartphone, because clearly you know something that I don't.

>>56873110
Nig, I'm not even following the thread.
>>
>>56872869
You can operate a kW transmitter from an aircraft with the pilot's permission for all the FAA cares. There's a reason ARRL DX award rules specifically mention that contacts made from an aircraft don't count. FAA guidance not regulations suggest that you don't allow nigger cattle who shouldn't even be allowed to own a device designed to emit RF to pollute the radio waves around your sensitive electronics, but you're welcome to allow it. Cellphone operation from aircraft is prohibited by the FCC because it fucks with frequency reuse schemes when your phone can see thousands of towers.

A pilot in command is basically an island dictator. He has what amounts to arrest powers until he gets back on the ground. He can deputize crew members and even passengers to carry out these orders. If he does the only person who will really be able to hold him accountable is his employer.

How are you going to crash a plane with a cell phone?

That's why airplanes are constantly falling down from the skies, with only one from a hundred passengers keeping their phones on.

The black box isn't a critical component. If you want to fuck with something critical on an aircraft pick a component with an antenna attached. It is much harder to harden a component against RF interference when it is designed to rely on reception of uV level signals that it pulls literally out of thin air. The computer controlling a MW level engine is okay with your mW transmitter inside a metal tube. The sensors in that engine have way more than a few uV of noise.
