Is there any reason to use Linux on the desktop right now? Besides ricing and "muh privacy" which I really don't care.

For you, maybe not.

For me, there's no reason to use anything else, and I don't rice and I don't give a fuck about privacy.

You can setup a nice programming environment without the bloats that some IDEs can bring and even have some server oriented services on a desktop oriented distro like Ubuntu or Fedora.

Linux is more stable, secure, and performant than Windows. Running Linux inside windows comes with all the hindrances of Windows.

The real question is: Is there any reason to use Bash on Windows? No.

It's actually faster and smoother and lighter on resource usage fared to any Windows release/version. Cli is fun and simple and enjoyable to use. Give it a shot for a few weeks and you might just ditch Windows during the process of trying out Linux. I might just install Manjaro on my SSD next to Windows 10 for a dual boot install.
>>
>>56762529
cause it works and no one has to fuck around finding licenses or compromising cracks?
>>
>>56762529
Its very light weight.
It doesn't have svchost killing your drives and using over 5gb of ram while you're idle on the desktop.
It doesn't have millions of connections to Brazilian and Chinese servers while you are just idle on desktop on a fresh install
its got a permission system that is rock solid.
its ideal for multiple users, many of which are probably incompetent beyond reason.

Sometimes I don't want a full computer and I just need some simple shit like the samba server to run and/or use come cli programs I made for petty shit. As someone with attention problems, if I have a full DE running I will wind up wasting all fucking day on the internet, like I just realized I did.. I was suppose to check my emails 5 hours ago and get off and I still haven't checked them.

The real freedom is the choice to use whatever the fuck you want free or not.
You want to be a freetard? No problem but keep in mind that not everyone support communism.

If you're a shut-in neckbeard who wants to feel special, even though you have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, Linux is a great choice to give you that false sense of importance.

You have autism.

You may not notice, but you do.

I bet you don't even wear underwear under your trousers.

I'm going to kiss your dog and make love with your sister.

There's only one cure for yourself. Delete system 32 and hang yourself, you fucking autistic cunt.
>>
>>56765865
I dont see what the problem with X is. I tried to install wayland one time and it was just a clusterfuck that didnt werk.

You people needing new programs ever two years are getting kind of annoying. Code doesn't go old like bread or milk. It doesnt expire.

First of all, X is unsafe as fuck. But it doesn't perform well either.. input lag etc. 2D performance sucks, even with the right X config.

And don't tell me >works on my machine
..because it doesn't. I've literally tinkered the shit out of my configs. That's just the way X is and those issues are still being discussed on various distro forums.

I played halflife and watch youtube on it all day, the only anomalies was the title screen water on halflife was rippling faster than it should, and on firefox the acceleration issues cause a diagonal bar when I scroll really fast.

It's not a resource hog like Windows and I have full control over my OS. This means I update when I want, how I want. I don't need to choose between inconvenient updates and going without. I simply update on my own time. Debian also only takes up 7GB on my machine as opposed to the whopping 18 that Windows 10 took. It also starts up and shut down twice as fast. One thing that really pissed me off about Windows 10 was its refusal to sleep when I closed the laptop lid. The computer wouldn't actually power off unless I chose reboot from the start menu. Clicking shut down would sleep the computer. Linux "just werks" a hell of a lot better than Windows does.

You should use Windows 10 desu.

It's easier for the NSA to tip off FEMA to your weird sovereign citizen neo-nazi ideals when they can record and analyze all your computing.

Great. Give me your full name, your birthday, your parent's names, your address, where you went to school, what you like to buy, your search history for the past week, what your job is, and the contents of the last email you sent.

What's the problem? Don't you have nothing to hide?

>>

It's fast as fuck boi, and everything is more customizable. That means better functionality, not just ricing

If only more than 50% of muh games worked, I would have no use for Windows
