This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

I have a 13.3 inch vaio, an older sandy bridge one, with a 1600x900 screen. I was wondering if I could upgrade it to 1080p, maybe IPS?

Blue board!

Looking around online it appears the 1600x900 display uses an LVDS 2 channel 6 bit connector meaning the laptop only has a 2 channel 6-bit LVDS controller.

There are only 1 or 2 1920x1080p 13.3" panels being produced and both of them are 2 channel 8-bit LVDS. Also they are VA panels, not IPS.

Looks like you might be able to swap it out for a 1600x900 IPS however.

Cheers mate.

Would you recommend the IPS display, or the higher resolution VA panel?

My only current issues with the screen is the backlight LEDs along the bottom are very visible and annoying when using the laptop in the dark or low light.

I dont think youll be able to tell the difference anyway on a screen that small

I have no idea if the laptop would be able to recognize and output properly to the 1080p VA panels, it's possible though.

I've not seen anything online though so you'd be in mostly uncharted territory.

Here is the 13.3" 1600x900 IPS

The 1920x1080 AHVA panel

The 1920x1080 ASV (type of VA panel)

ok op. Where'd you find the pic? I want some more of that

It'd probably be best to stick to the 1600x900 then.

Thanks for the help mate, really appreciate it.

This is a guy, right? I'm going to fap to it anyway, but I need to know. If I'm fapping to traps when I'm trying to fap to girls, and fapping to girls when I'm trying to fap to traps, I'm gonna get upset.
