Is there any way to make the Volume Mixer not completely suck ass? AFAIK Windows 7, 8, and 10 all have this issue. Should I just switch to chrome?

Yeah switch to chrome. You're one of those types of people who will definitely end up with it anyways. Why fight it?

Chrome will be the same.
Windows don't refresh the mixer when you open something new, it just add it

Closing and reoping the mixer fixes this problem of multiple instances of a program. Any way to automate this process perhaps?

You could try disabling electrolysis in firefox. But I really wouldn't trust the volume mixer for this sort of thing.
