How to make Linux to look like Windows 3.1?
Also, what's your favorite non-KDE/GNOME/Unity WM/DE? How long did you config your desktop?
I'm also interested in making my Linux look retro as fook.
Riced FVWM.
Why you would actually want such an awful interface on your daily driver however, I can only wonder...

Post your screenshot, for sure.

Jesus, last time I tried to rice FVWM, it gave me a fucking headache.
>>56671245
I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually try to rice it, but it's the best candidate.

Me too, but I don't think it would be terribly difficult in this case. 3.x is very similar to FVWM and other oldschool *nix window managers behaviorally, you'd really just have to tweak the window decorations, which are already very similar.

IceWM has a Win95 theme
https://packages.debian.org/sid/icewm-themes
download the tar.gz file on the righthand side of the page and extract the fake95 and put it in ~/.icewm/themes/ and enable it in in icewm menu

Those are three hidden windows on the bottom?

Yep, everything iconizes just like 3.x.
Window controls are identical too, just different graphics.
You could probably even whip up some kind of program manager replacement if you really wanted to, but I don't exactly know how you would go about it.

rox-filer will iconify minimized windows on the screen like that too

I think it wouldn't be too hard to recreate the progman. It wasn't much difficult, I think 300 MB should be enough.
I've been trying to make my xfce desktop look like Mac OS 9. Such a comfy UI and soothing colors. Not having any luck finding a good icon pack though.

Glad I'm not the only one. For some reason I find the OS 9 UI super aesthetic, I wish I knew the reason why.

Did you check that?

The classic Mac UI was really nice desu, makes really effective use of low resolution displays and feels very polished, the only thing that really sucks about it is window management, though it was never really a system you'd want to use for heavy multitasking in the first place anyway.

Xfce4 with Bluecurve icons, grey panels, Platinum WM. I'm pretty close.
