what's with all these sites blocking adblock (and in some cases won't let you even have it installed)? i'd gladly turn off my adblock if ads didn't open up obvious scam popups and other suspicious websites. i need to use windows for work and i don't want to open myself up to all kinds of malware.

desu we should boycott the sites that use anti adblock. you shouldn't be punished for not wanting intrusive ads. if they wanted people to not use adblock, then maybe advertisting companies should make sure they actually screen the site's they're advertising.

fuck em, i will not allow any website to turn my browser in to an advertising platform for their sponsors, this computer belongs to me, if they want to play that game i will add their domain to /etc/hosts like this

They're often easily circumvented by disabling scripts.
I don't use an adblocker. I use a general-purpose blocking extension that just happens to have some of the same filters used by adblocking extensions enabled by default.
