Anyone on /g/ use NFC wireless payment, either through their phone or directly on a card? I've pretty much given up on it.

>banks no longer issue physical cards with the wireless chips in the US
>Apple Pay only allows you to add eight cards total, meaning I can't add all my credit and debit cards
>even when you do have a card it's slow to open the wallet and pick the correct one
>readers at shops rarely read it
>only place I have been able to reliably use NFC payment is certain drink vending machines
>>
I use both my android phone and my main debit card every day for contactless payments. It's very good.

no, I do all my banking on an OpenBSD system on my server for security and run Linux on my desktop for normal stuff
>>
I can't use Android pay because it doesn't support custom roms

>most credit cards in the US have no annual fee
>no interest if you pay the bill in full each month
>variety of different category cashbacks and free benefits for using them
why wouldn't I?

>8 cards
What the fuck, is this actually a thing in America? I have one card and i don't see reason to have more? In yurop we just touch the reader with our card and that's it, payment done.

Apple Pay is pretty dank desu. I use it to get coffee or energy drinks when I'm on my way to work.

In the US we don't pay annual fees on credit and we get a variety of benefits, for example cashback
>one card gives 5% cashback at a specific hotel chain (travel a lot for work)
>one card gives 5% cashback on all gas purchases
>one card gives 5% cashback on two categories I pick (rental cars and restaurants, due to travel)
>two give rotating 5% cashback on various categories (example: Amazon.com and department stores for Q4 2016)
>one gives 3% cashback on groceries
>two give 2% cashback on any purchase anywhere

Plus the benefits go beyond cashback. Over the past couple years I've probably benefited at least $600/yr from benefits on my American Express card that has no annual fee.

Install a non-rooted ROM like Cyanogen OS, then install Magisk. Do not have root turned on while using Android Pay, or other applications that use Safety Net.

>>one card gives 5% cashback at a specific hotel chain
So the hotel is overcharging and giving some back to create the illusion that you're getting "free" money?
>>
>>56621290
Hotel, rental car, and airline rewards are essentially programs to bribe frequent travelers into remaining loyal with their own or their business' money. Since it's the largest hotel chain in the US (Marriott) and my company is big, the best rates (or within a few dollars) are generally negotiated with marriott anyways, meaning it's all gravy for me when I spend $1,000, get paid $1,000 by work, and then have 20,000 points on my rewards account.

>is anyone on /g/ also a fuckwit in how they handle financial transactions?

lol

i would leave an additional snide comment, but people like you are your own downfall

All from the same bank? Seems pretty neat.
>>
>>56621448
Not all from the same bank (credit card issuers) but they all just directly debit the bank account automatically (if you want, otherwise you press a button to pay them the amount) so it's super convenient and beneficial.

Credit card payment for hotel goes out of my bank account, reimbursement from work goes into the same bank account.

what's wrong with mobile payments anon?
