3 out of the 4 of us are willing to pay to upgrade.
Will upgrading to fibre around 50mbps stabilise ping and make it less prone to spikes?
Is this my only option, maybe QOS settings on my router?

Do both, that pipe is not wide enough.

Would a good router hardware give better performance when sharing the bandwidth ? I ask this because everytime i set to half the bandwidth between 2 computers, i still don't get the speed of half of my plan, its always less.
>>56612318

>>56612442

This is why you use SQM on the router, retards

Every router from a reputable company comes with QoS now. I mean there shouldn't be any reason why it's not activated.
>>56612482
Change the settings on your router to throttle your roomies devices my dude. You can't fit more dicks in your ISPs asshole that way.
>>56612161
>muh serois gaymes
>>56612789
What's SQM
>>56612161
if the ping is spiking constantly it is not spiking, its just constantly high
wouldn't HD videos be unwatchable at 6mbps (750 KB/s)
>being a gaymer faggot
>>56612680
so you buy router then, split the cost amongst the other roommates

could you kindly fuck off avatarfag

>>56612161
Depends on the OS but NetLimiter (Windows) or wondershaper (Linux) solved my issues combined with QoS settings.
Unless someone is torrenting or using a multi-connection downloader you should be fine.
>>56612161
definately check out QoS
you can prioritise game traffic, and limit traffic like torrents to make things more tolerable
there's 5 people here sharing a 14/0.8 line, and i can leave torrents running constantly while watching a youtube video while 3 others play an online game and everything runs fine
