that's like the exact same photocopier I have

and yeah OP it's BS but it's also because the printer uses all colours to print rich black, some printers have an option to use only the black toner but I think it doesnt look as good/dark.

Anyone here have a matrix printer? I'm thinking of buying one some day.

I've used matrix printers professionally in the past. They are loud as fuck, very slow and can be very sensitive about paper alignment. Very limited network capabilities as well. Pretty much useless if you don't need carbon copy paper printed for signable invoices and shit.

Yup, my printer got to over 2000 pages before the quality degraded, the light comes on at 1000 pages.
