I think mpc-hc is going to die/be suspended really soon, the development of lavfilters (the main part of mpc-hc) has slowed down considerably for quite some time already. Even madshi doesn't release any new madVR anymore.
The reason, I don't really know and I hope they have not been pressured by the copyreich. There is also the popularity of android for HTPC purpose and mpv that is quite saner, include madvr like features and much more, is fully opensource, is cross platform and has a majestic documentation.

Furthermore windows is now a true mess and includes tons of spyware and unwanted programs that are almost impossible to remove without disconnecting his computer from internet.

It's a sad time for windows users.
