>WORKING ON SOMETHING IMPORTANT? TOO BAD TIME FOR A FUCKING UPDATE

Not setting up OS you work on? Too bad, somebody have to take control, if you refuse to.

Holy shit, all is needed is selecting proper options. From "Settings" you can disable autorestart. From Group Policy you can disable autodownload and autoinstall (should be selectable from Settings, I give you that). Finding out about it takes like 10 minutes by asking your favorite search engine.

FOR FUCK SAKE, YOU GUYS LOVE LINUX BUT SOMEHOW CANT CONFIGURE A DAMN WINDOWS?

Wont be much use for you, because I operate in Polish.

For "normal" users, Settings -> Update and Security -> Advanced.
For users, who want a little more -> gpedit.msc, then Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Configure Automatic Updates. Might be named differently in english, I cant recall.

Also found out when asking DuckDuckGo, Google or whatever. It is listed on MS own site, that Technet one.

You just didnt wanted to find it, honestly.

>keep it up to date to fix the latest known security issues.
There were and several security issues that's been known since the 90's present AND SOME STILL UNTOUCHED

I would need to install it then to confirm. Which shouldnt take place after all, while Anniversary disabled some functions for Home/Pro users, Enterprise/Edu were unaffected. No options were removed at all, however.

I did my homework in checking updates changelogs.

However, my system claims its up to date, so maybe this whole Anniverasy doesnt show in normal Windows Update or something.

>>
>>56592011
This.

>wanting to delay security updates
>at all
>ever

This is precisely why Windows 10 doesn't give you that option - end-users simply shouldn't ever do it, they really are critical updates. Unpatched operating systems are a danger to the whole internet.

They're already batched once a month, and yesterday was Patch Tuesday (second Tuesday in the month). That's still too slow for my tastes.

I wish they'd finish the reboot-free patches they have been working on for the past few years, that would make the experience so much more seamless. They have everything in place they need for that, they just need to finish it up. (Linux has had the potential since 4.0, and before that with Ksplice, but almost no distractions do it yet.)

Sadly the feature updates still use the full install, and Windows Update remains pretty clumsy compared to where it should be for a great rolling release UX.
>>
>>56596211
Linux and OSX have unpatched vulnerabilities too lol
>>
>>56596211

>What are you gonna do then?

Update?

Honestly, at home there is Edu waiting for installation, thats the same level as Enterprise. No source claims that Anniversary removed any Policies for Enterprise/Edu and in case of Pro version, only few Policies were blocked but not related to updates settings.

If you use Win 10 Pro with Anniversary, please show me screenshoot of how your Group Policy looks like.

Known vulnerabilities are the ones that get exploited the most.

I use Windows 10 and only get a cumulative update once a month.

I wonder how people can possibly be using their computer 24 hours a day solid for months on end leaving them unable to install updates which typically take me 10 minutes to install and reboot back. They have no time at all for so long the OS has a panic mode build in because people like this just cannot be trusted. When I say "people like this" I mean people who think they are "good with computers" but actually are not and end up in a mess and a risk so security family, friends and random people online.

MS only released updates on Tuesdays.
>>
>>56591307

Start >search for "SERVICES" > Find windows Updates> right click > DISABLE> Start > search for Group Policies> Change what you need in there> go to settings and disable what you can from there.

I had a "x64 cumulative update" and a few others that fucked alot of programs up. Wiped clean fresh install and did above and havent had an update since.

I actually know a way to permanently disable the windows update service, but I won't tell you :^)

>>56593559
you usually don't need to reboot to apply patches/updates. these days, even the linux kernel can be hotpatched.

Running widows 7 with no updates at all for a couple of years now. 0 problems so far.

Windows doesn't need updates.
All these updates are just a way to send your data to the agencies and marketing agencies.
