What the fuck happened to the Ubuntu Software Center? I've been under a rock for a while, and it's shit in my fresh install of 16.04.

It became normie-friendly

They dropped it in favor of gnome-software. desu senpai, they hadn't even updated the old ubuntu software center in years.
It's lighter weight than the last one. They just borrowed an app store from another distro, maybe Fedora. I'm not quite sure where that app store originated.

The new gnome-software based software center is a lot faster now but also seems more buggier. I just continue to use synaptic.

I think the old software center is why linux beginners use terminal (for apt-get) even though they should be able to use ubuntu with just graphics.

Hahahahaha
This is never going to happen for any Linux distro ever made
Even in Ubuntu you're eventually going to need to use the terminal to install some fucking obscure driver or use the terminal to launch the text editor or file browser with root privileges to edit some system config
>>56591451
:( yeah, especially if you try to do anything out of the ordinary. Audio engineering on Linux makes me sad.
But you could totally use just graphics on a public computer at a shitty library, or your grandma's computer.

If programs fucking prompted for higher elevated credentials on file access denied errors this wouldn't be a fucking issue.
But, 99% of them don't. Fucking frustrating.
Linux Desktop was a mistake.
