How are these chips holding up for people? I had one I got from a friend burn out a year ago, and I've been afraid to replace it because I'm worried it'll burn out in a couple of months since you can only get them used. Since then I've been using an old Phenom II X2 and it's pretty shit for anything gaming, but just internet browsing or watching 1080p MKV is fine.

Should I swing ~$70 for a replacement while waiting to get the big bucks to get a 6600k?

I use mine for the occasional game and it works just fine .

70 dollars will get you a skylake pentium (14nm, dual core, 3.3ghz)

Yeah, it had pretty good performance, especially since I haven't upgraded from my R9 270 which doesn't go past 40fps in GTA anyway on high settings.

I just want to know if they're still working or if a lot of people have had them die like mine did, since my friend would play GTA V with it on the stock heatsink.

Yeah, but I'd also have to get a new MOBO and new RAM as well, additional expenses to consider. I'm actually fine with a cheapo non-OC MOBO and 8 GB of ram (for now), but even at those prices it's another $90 on top if I'm not going with something in the AM3 format.
That's AM3 not AM3+, otherwise I'd just get an FX-8350 for the next 1-3 years.

works on my machine I guess

Can't find a x6 to play around with (experimenting with servers and virtualization). Areghh not even on eBay why does this shit retain value
>>
Still using my 965, it probably helps that I only play FFXIV.

I still use mine. Works like a charm. I don't play any graphic heavy gaymes, tho.

I got a athlon II x4 630 and it work fine. The only problem is that its quite slow for many recent games.

Very good, got a new GPU paired up. Broke away from the AMD fan boy.

Was my old PC, now runs my livingroom entertainment center+emulation box

Phenom 2 was fucking awesome for the money at the time. No reason to give up on the chip yrt for me

Just pick up a 8320E at your local Microcenter store
>>
I just bought a Phenom X3 for a very light gayman rig I'm going to build from spare parts and sell. It's good enough for LoL, CS:GO and Minecraft, typical kid games.
