It's actually unity. I deploy Ubuntu for servers and workstations as well as maintain them. Unity is required for us to certify full deployment service. Other DEs on Ubuntu are good hacks, but they are stick hacks and not fully supported by the canonical enterprise folks.

Obviously for a home user taste may be more important than stability, but just saying if you want the best Ubuntu desktop then Unity is it by design.

Unity 8, it's comfy as fuck, just install a GTK+ theme and an icon theme then it's literally the best, an't wait for mir and wayland support, X is deprecated

Mark Shuttleworth may have born in South Africa but he doesn't look like a nigger to me tbqh senpai.

Even Terry Davis uses Ubuntu.
>>
>>56559563
Of course he's not a nigger; niggers lack the cognitive capacity to fork Debian.

Ubuntu is made FOR niggers. The problem is though - if you make something so simple niggers can use it, only niggers will WANT to use it.

A lot of native blacks these days are actually pretty sharp, according to test scores of immigrants. It's the American blacks that are idiots because all Americans are idiots.

The Africans are finally getting treatments for diseases fucking up their kids' neurology, but burgers embrace being stupid.

>>56558655
I have to agree with MATE. Currently using it on my laptop, but maybe I'm biased because I got into Linux with Ubuntu 8.04, so I'm nostalgic for the classic Gnome "Applications Places System" menu.

Unity is fine for casuals, but I don't like devices pretending that they're tablets.

Xubuntu is unpolished, stuff like Bluetooth not staying on, erratic sleep and resume, display dimming when watching Youtube, etc.

Agreed. I've used Ubuntu since 9.04-ish. I also agree with you about xfce, if it was more polished I might use it more.

Ubuntu + Cinnamon/MATE

It's the perfect distro.

It's a carrot nose.

I wish Ubuntu had a Cinnamon flavor. I have it installed off of xubuntu now. No problems.

I used Ubuntu with MATE and really liked it. It looked great

I want to use Ubuntu mate, but they use a "custom" configuration of it. Is it only a theme?, or do i need to reinstall mate to remove the bloated configuration?

KDE

No it's a XOR nose.
>>
>>56567688
I have tried MATE. It runs great but never used long term. So, not sure if it has screen tearing etc. Also not sure if it can look nice. But I do recall it running very light and stable. Solid for older hardware or anything I guess
>>
>>56559481
This but the gtk3 build. Looks fantastic.

XFCE in second place.
>>
>>56567726
So does MATE use gtk3?
>>
>>56558655
Go for Kubuntu.

>>56560662
>and come to the US are usually pretty smart
US pretty much operates like a still, extracting the get-up-an-go's from around the world. It has been that way for over a century.
>>
>>56558655
It is the exact opposite: is the worst is with the best gui
>>
>>56558655
Don't do anything now. Just w8 4 new Unity 8 desktop, that shit will be looking slightly better, all gtk themes look awful.
>>
>>56567791
Kubuntu is obsolete. Use KDE Neon.
>>
>>56568889
>Kubuntu is obsolete.
It is still being developed.

>Use KDE Neon.
I am going to look into it. Problem is that KDE is off into the weeds and I believe some moderation is called for. If, as an example, you were using some of the more flakey software hatched out by the KDE huffers you might end up with Kmail2 and a finely shredded inbox.

KDE makes some nice stuff but these days they are far too crazy.
>>
I've just made preparations to jump from kubuntu to something else. I was thinking of going back to xubuntu. However, the whole reason I left it was video screen tearing. Tried the compton taing to no avail. So far, unity and kde were tear free, but 16.04 unity as released was buggy as fuck. Kde is buggy as all hell too but was more familiar and has more settings than unity. I'm at a loss as to where to go now. I'm about to the point of just drawing from a hat. Also, shit optimus.
>>
>>56569259
cinnamon is also tear free and oyu may like. It's what i dropped xfce4 for.Compton works fine for me but i'll just stay up to date with gtk3
>>
Cinnamon, unless you're a tremendous homosexual.
>>
>>56559273

My MATE had screen tearing on Intel 4000 graphics (Thinkpad), but it was a 5 minute google and a quick terminal command to fix.

I use goenv via a PPA from a guy named Alex working for the UK gov
