The best analogy I've seen is this: buying an Android over an iPhone is like buying a Vive over a Rift. The Rift is closed off and requires certification to put your games on their store, whereas the Vive doesn't. The Vive has more features. But the Vive is a cluster fuck of wires, harder to use, bigger and heavier, and has less big-name dev support.

No. That's a bad comparison. AMD/Intel sells you hardware you can use to run whatever you want. If you buy an eyephone then you're stuck with eyeOS.
