Is the Nexus 5 still worth it to buy as a phone in 2016? I just need a phone that doesn't lag while using and doesn't constantly kill apps/redraw the launcher as soon as you switch active apps.
I would be worried about the battery life desu. The phone already had a reputation for poor battery life when it was new, and by now any used one would probably have been through countless charges.

I bought one last November. I'm not a heavy phone use guy, but I like it. The battery lasts days when I don't use it to much. Can typically get away with one charge a week, though if I use it pretty heavily I can drain the battery in several hours.

What kind if battery life is expected from a new n5? I just need it to last during the day.

I don't understand.

Would you recommend it to a guy who just wants an inexpensive but smooth-running phone? Or have any suggestions for other phones?

It should probably be fine. People say the Nexus 5x battery is about the same but I have no problem with it in my normal day to day use

I'm that sort of guy, so yeah I think so. Don't have any other suggestions though, I don't pay attention to phones too much until I need one.

Nexus 5 here. Works good after 2 years. Battery isn't the greatest but keeping Bluetooth and location services off helps. I also have no gapps installed. I use a battery case and I can get through the day just fine. Go for it OP, but buy refurbished or install a new battery. I get about 4 to 5 hours SOT with the brightness low.

How much should I be looking to spend? I see some at a local store for $250 CAD (around $190 USD). Would I be overspending?
I've been thinking of getting a new phone since my moto g doesnt have enough ram(8GB) i have 32GB SSD card but its a bit of a chore to have to keep on transfering files to it many times a week. So i've been thinking of getting either a Nexus 6 or Redmi 3 Pro- both have 32GB and are around the same price. Any advice?

What font is that?
there are better budget phones unless you're getting this for under 70£

Any good suggestions?
No SD card slot and non-removable battery, and if you use it heavily you get about 5-6 hours per charge out of it. Camera is a bit crappy compared to my old Nexus S.
I'd still recommend it, everything is smooth and it just werks. Bought it last christmas and haven't regretted it.

Pixel and Pixel XL will be out in about a month.
That's what they decided to call the new Nexus phones.
