Hey /g/,
I was thinking about installing Popcorn Time again, but I see there are a lot of fake versions with malware and MPAA honeypots. There are two community editions (popcorntime.ag and popcorntimeCE.ch) and both are claiming the other one is fake.
There is also the "official" .sh version, but I've heard that's a MPAA honeypot.
Anyone knows which one is actually safe?

>inb4 shitty yify rips
I'm just trying to get a painless and fast movie torrent streaming service.

the original project is called butter now

>using popcorn time
The vocal one about the other being "fake" is shitty and developed by one guy. The other based on Butter is the only sane.

Whatever you chose though make sure it is an open source edition and compile it yourself. Just to be on the safe side.

http://butterproject.org
Is this it?

Yeah. Now find the Popcorn edition based on it. Butter is legal stuff only.

Thanks, I assume this is it
https://github.com/butterproject/butter-desktop

That is the Butter code base and
https://github.com/popcorn-official/popcorn-desktop
is the patched with not legal sources aka yify etc

Thanks senpai

Btw if I understood correctly, the .sh version is actually forked from butter, right? Which is supposed to be "official"
what about http://popcorn-time.to/ ?
>>56535033
why don't you use peerflix like a man?
It's made by the dude that made the torrrent client that popcorn times uses.
>>56535033
Just use https://popcorntime.sh/ or compile Butter yourself.

that's on v3.2, and the .ag is on 4.02 but updates you to 4.2 on boot. on another note, a lot of my movies i wanna watch aren't loading, saying there are no seeds or leechers, many are in the red. tv shows work fine, but the movies mostly wont play, with most films having red or yellow dots at best, indicating horrible health
