You see that cable going into the psu? Cut it in half. Inside you will find wires. Take out the red and black one and strip their ends. Now plug it into a wall and grab one wire with each hand

Or if you don't feel like Gentoo, install Debian or Arch or something (or OpenBSD??) and put an Xfce or LXDE desktop and you'll be good.
Generally you can use an old computer as a media centre for your TV or as a storage server or NAS. I have one that's a bit too old for either of these things, because the graphics chip doesn't support smooth 1080p or even 720p video playback and the drives are IDE i instead of SATA. Anyway this looks a bit newer so you could probably do it.
