Why aren't you using Windows Embedded Compact as OS, /g/?

>runs with less than 1MB of RAM
>can build own customisable modules
>botnet free
>more secure than any other version of Windows or Linux
>boots faster than any other version of Windows or Linux
>>
The only reason to run Windows is for video games.

If it can't even do that it's worthless.
>>
>running EOL software that doesn't get security patches
>ignoring security patches
>more secure then other versions

Because this is /g/

Install Gentoo.
>>
Interesting icon theme.

>icons from windows 98, XP, and Vista
>windows logo only has four unique colors
>>
>>56532469
does it support more than 8bit colour though
>>
I might be interested. What's this? And where can I pirate it?
>>
>>56532469

Tell us more. Will it gaymeme? Can it handle 8 or more cores? Does everything Win7 work on it?
>>
>>56532845
Okay.
No.
No.
No.
>>
>>56532469
>Windows Embedded Compact
>based on Windows CE
>doesn't run win32 applications
>useless piece of shit os nobody uses

Yeah, no. Why do you keep making these stupidly useless threads. Just kill yourself and install OS/2 on your laptop you take with you in your grave.
>>
>>56532469
> >runs with less than 1MB of RAM
Bullshit, XP kernel BSODs with less than 32MB, I believe.
>>
>>56532926
It's a completely separate kernel and not based on dos or NT.
Still, on Microsoft's website it says 6MB minimum RAM required for just the OS and the rdp server.
A framebuffer would require even more RAM.

op's talking about CE, not NT

interesting
what can you do with it
>>
where to get the ISO?

because i am running 2012r2 and it is indestructible.
>>
>>56535475

why you say that? i see many corporations use that, and looks ok, but why is better than linux for example?
>>
>>56536285
seeing as i have only restarted my entire deployed rack 10 times total and i have complete control over arp and snap on console services i would love to see that availability with linux -- not bashing linux -- out of the box servers for domains, windows just works!
>>
>>56536285
oh and also my onboard video card chipset/controller is failing and i have yet to have a bsod -- using the default vgapnp.sys driver.
>>
>>56535475
>try out 2012r2
>install NFS server role

>BSOD's reliably

i used 2003 quite a bit, but newer versions have been underwhelming
>>
>>56537612
did you ever install the ad lds role?
>>
>>56538100
no, i've used AD a fair bit in 2003, but not in 2012
>>
>>56538149
on 2008+ nfs relies on ad lds especially with esx clients and network shares over unfixed variable paths...
>>
>>56538260
well, i don't remember exactly what i set up, it was a rather brief installation as NFS was the first thing i set up (and last, seeing as it crashed the machine upon access)
>>
>>56532485
pretty much this
>>
>>56533008
OP was quoting the wikipedia article that says you can run the CE kernel on <1MB
probably doesn't apply to EC7
>>
>>56535475
so semi serious question did you purchase the license or did you torrent and crack your windows
