For what purpose?
I have a 5820k at 4.5GHz, I don't like to keep my room at 85F+.
I also draw over 350w from the wall when i'm at full load at that clockspeed.
Most of it is entirely pointless and nobody will ever see the results of any tasks you've completed.
Computing is still to basic to be of any real use.
I think SETI is kind of dumb. When humanity discovers alien life, I doubt it will be because we intercepted a radio signal.

I agree. We'll find out when a redirected comet de-orbits onto us.
Fermi Paradox is a bitch.
they are already here and they are dangerous
contact was a good movie.
that's a shit program.
The only aliens worth finding would find us first and not the other way around

In some places is still pretty hot and there's no need to run computers as space heaters, and some people prefer computing more useful stuff than SETI
if you're going to run shitware for somebody too poor to do it themselves, do it for something more useful than intercepting solar flares
