I'm in desperate need of your help /g/. I bought a gtx 1070 today (pic related) and when I put it in my mobo and hooked up the two 6+2 pin power connectors my computer wouldn't start. When I had one 6+2 connector plugged in the led next to the power connectors was red and the computer would power on (fans spinning etc) but up on the monitor it said to power down, insert pcie power cables and restart. I have an i5 2500k @ 4.2 ghz, 16gb ram a 750w psu and the before the 1070 I was using an r9 290x. After putting a single power connector in the final time a small amount of smoke started coming out of the power connector where the power cable was plugged into the card. So my main question is, what did I do wrong, is my 1070 ruined and do i have a bad psu? Also my old 290x sparked and smoked once but I thought it was because I bought it used but now I'm thinking my psu might be fucked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
