I'll keep it in mind. I'd have to upgrade the vps to KVM, but if it gets me software I can set and forget maybe its worth learning. I've just known debian for so long, apache was a pain but it was workable.

The easiest would be make your own in Golang, rolling a webserver is dead easy and it's all described in the gopl book http://www.gopl.io/

Or just use OpenBSD's httpd which is fully documented in the man pages and basically simple to operate/use.

lighttpd is a dead project. nginx is what all the cool kids are using and it supports http2.
