As far as I can tell, FreeBSD itself is quite well wrapped up save for package management, and even that is being taken care of. I only have a little experience with linux, using it on a netbook and setting up a vps with it. It's terrible, you have to use a command line for practically anything worth doing, go through man pages with one line descriptions on how to use a function assuming you've used similar programs before is just frustrating. Same goes for ini files.Finally figured out a standard way to do something, just wait till the next update or switch distro and start over again. Doing something simple as making a program start up on boot can be done in various ways, but none are as simple as just dragging a fucking shortcut into a startup folder. Linux might be stable and lightweight, but using it is akin to using a english to swahili dictionary to explain the basics of cognitive science to a swahili child.
