It's shit, buy it then throw it in the trash.

Buy it, cash in the receipt to work, then return it and buy something for 1/8 of the price.

You're seriously going to rip off the company you work for to gain just a couple of thousand dollars? Is your professionalism not worth more than that? I hope they fucking fire you and press charges.

Just commit fraud for a laptop. Genius. What could go wrong?

I don't give a fuck about this company, they have millions of dollars, a few thousand isn't going to hurt them, and it's gonna do me a lot of good.

Is corporate brain washing this entrenched in your value system? Fuck megacorps, they already exploit my labor enough and make ten folds off of what I create.

Go for it, by the looks of it if you sell 3 of the drives you're getting a 10k laptop for under 3000.

Currently most our staff use laptops with a workstation stand that hooks up to multiple monitors once we get to work.

The company figures this way we can take out work home with us.

What a shitty company, have fun getting burnout in the next years.
The only ones who should work at home are business owners, not the fucking cattle.

I'm actively searching for a new job because of this. Figured why not milk them for a 10k laptop.
>>
>>56489941
The better question is, why the fuck would you? They're literally no better than consumer grade cards unless you're doing heavy shit like modelling a nuclear explosion. For regular rendering, they're a waste of money.
>>
>>56489980
You're a fucking moron. You don't think if they're paying $5000 for his machine that they'd expect to see him actually bring the machine to work?

Just buy five 5TB HDDs instead, you'll cut the price in half

Art director here, what's "Design Programming" Is this that field where people who have no skill draw boxes and call themselves Google Designers or something?
>>
>>56490490
Usually firms like that have it in the contract that the company only owns hardware they issue themselves. If they're reimbursing OP 50%, it's his. They're just incentivising purchasing a machine that will increase his productivity by paying half
>>
This is just a Clevo/Sager right like all the others?
>>
>>56491228
UX design, yeah that kind of hipster google shit
>>
>>56489793
What I don't understand is why would your firm put a limit of 10k? It just doesn't seem profitable to dish out a potential 5k per employee.

probably just a troll
>>
>>56491299
The way I see it is that if the firm were to subsidize a 2k or 3k laptop it wouldn't have the same productivity increase.

I think they understand that most people working for them like tech and are "geeks" and are going to want to spend time on a big shiny piece of hardware.
>>
>>56491318
It's just a part of our bonus, we all get subsidized equipment. It's just a Jew way of paying us in a way that will still benefit the company through productivity.

Those that don't want to dish out a lot of money won't get as much.

But hey, we offered 50% of 10k, a potential 5k torwards your equipment! Bunch of ass holes, that's why i figure buy as many damn drives as I can then sell em.
>>
>>56491267
are you willing to share the company name? just curious

>>
>>56490222
>>56490595
No, just maintain a shred of fucking professionalism. If you're going to rip them off, at least make it count. Don't steal a couple of thousand dollars, your professionalism is worth more than that unless you're completely fucking useless.

Even if you get away with it legally, what do you think is going to happen when a non-retarded person looks at the receipts you sent them? When they choose who to promote and who to fire, what do you think they will say at the meeting when discussing the guy who obviously ripped off the company and sacrificed their trust for just a few thousand dollars? Not a million dollars mind you, just some pocket change.

>>
>>56491918
What post are you referring to specifically? The one about you looking for another job? Do you think what your current company thinks of you has no influence at what positions you can get in the future? The fastest and easiest way to advance career-wise is through employee poaching.
>>
>>56492020
You're implying that everyone has the primary ambition of career advancement and climbing the corporate ladder.

I don't give a fuck about a raise, I like doing creative work, and I'm good at it and get paid enough to live comfortably.

Fuck your capitalist bullshit buddy.

My uncle was CTO at 35 on 290+ a year, quit his job to open a motorbike shop. Your ambitions are an illusion and trying to push that onto everyone, with every change you get, even on a fucking anonymous tech board is fucking ridiculous.

Good luck with your ambitions faggot.
>>
>>56492065
You don't care about a raise but you're willing to jive your company for a couple of thousand...
>>
>>56492084
I don't care about company status or a promotion. I get paid for what I'm good at. Yes, i'll happily take a few thousand for a laptop off a company that exploits my free time based off my moral principals.
>>
>>56492065
>I don't give a fuck about a raise, I like doing creative work, and I'm good at it and get paid enough to live comfortably.
You don't care about getting a raise, yet you care enough about money to purposely, elaborately rip off the company where you work for just a couple of thousand dollars. Look me in the eye and tell me this is even logically coherent in your own mind.
>>
>>56492103
you're really slow buddy

>>>>>>56492091
>>
>>56492091
Why not just quit then? Oh, that's right, you need the money. How long do you expect them to keep you there? What will you do when they fire you before you've saved up enough money to open a motorbike shop of your own? This little fraudulent scheme of yours can't possibly have a positive expected value even if you ignore the moral aspects of it.
>>
>>56492103
promotion =/= raise
>>
>>56492164
I'm just wondering why you're so angry about this. Just because you're on 4chan doesn't mean you have to be bitter and exasperated in every conversation you have.
>>
>>56492178
Except in 90% of the cases it is. And if you're looking for a new job, your options are going to be significantly better in every metric if you were just promoted at your current job. How are people unaware of this?
>>
>>56492164
Yes, I'll admit I'm a human in 2016 and I need to work to stay alive. That doesn't mean that my primary aim in life is to dedicate it to a company.

I'll find another job soon, but thanks for taking time out of your day to think about my life.

I'll take my 5K and my nice new laptop and find another quiet design job while you keep smudging your superiority complex over the internet while you keep telling yourself how good your life is working for your lovely little corporate family.
>>
>>56492229
I'm actually a business owner of a small size (12 person) company, and people like you make me sick. You're the people making huge color printouts at work for their kids' birthday parties, the people who steal office supplies at work to use privately at home, who exploit every nice thing you try to do for them for the tiniest amount of personal gain, the people browsing facebook at work despite there being an important work deadline tomorrow, the people who call in sick because they're hungover, and, guess what, the people I will do my very best to detect and fire from my business as quickly as possible. And spare me the "b-but my company is a huge multi-million dollar company". Who cares? The revenue of my company is much, much bigger than the salary of any of the employees (including my own, I don't even have the highest salary), but if my employees started exploiting the company we would be forced to shut down. It's the same for every company, believe it or not. The only difference is that the bigger companies have been forced to adopt policies (often intrusive, "corporate bullshit" ones) that prevent the employees from destroying the company from within.
>>
>>56492536
The company I work for is a publicly listed company, we don't have a small family sized community with a nice CEO like yourself.

I'm designing user experience for apps for insurance clients. Working with companies that exploit our shitty public health policy at the expense of millions is much less ethical than me getting some hard drives from work.

Spare me your bullshit. A small business is nothing like an MNE, and my actions have no impact.
>>
>>56492536
People will do whatever is in their best interests. Nobody gives a fuck about any company, including yours. It's in our nature to be selfish, why are you surprised this happens? Any company should make sure it doesn't get exploited, it's their fault if they don't. It looks to me a perfect worker for you would be a robot, so just wait a few decades and get one.
>>
>>56492645
The biggest influence on employee behaviour is informal institutions. The most effective strategy therefore to ensure ethical employee decision making and to limit opportunism from within the company is to establish a working culture and environment that promotes the interest of both the organisation and the employees.

I'm a business analyst and I work for companies like OP's all the time. They exploit workers and create an environment in which the employee has a negative attitude towards the company and then tried to limit opportunism with formal institutions, i.e rules and regulations/code of conduct.

As exemplified by OP, this doesn't work. Yes people do what is in their best interest. But if you treat your employees with respect and understand that they are humans, not robots and ensure they have a good work/life balance then their best interest will be harmonious with that of the firm's.
>>
>>56492641
If you want your company to succeed, you can't treat it as a family. I value my employees, I reason with them, trust them just as they trust me, but if they stop doing the job I am paying them to do I will fire them. I have had employees like you that I had to fire, people who exploited the company, exploited my trust or didn't do their job. They're not opportunistic products of corporate culture as you seem to believe yourself to be, rather, they are the very cause of corporate culture. Bigger companies are forced to implement corporate policies because of assholes like yourself.
>>
>>56492735
You are still trying to argue that your Small business of 12 employees is similar to a MNE.
>>
>>56492753
Of course they are. Do you think I haven't worked for any large companies? Do you think I started my own business with no prior experience? Some things are obviously different, but most things are exactly the same. In areas where you have no scaling advantages (which are surprisingly many) a small business is exactly the same as a large business. And in some cases you even have scaling disadvantages, one of them being that it's easier for asshats like OP to sneak in undetected.
>>
>>56492917
Perhaps operation models and risk management are handled on a similar level with scale being the obvious variant.

When I say that it is similar, I'm implying that the repercussions on a large firm are much less than the consequences of me taking some drives from your firm. This is due to scale, or particularly, resources.

You can argue all you want about the scaled actions of my consequences if it developed a culture in which it would then multiply. But a company that acts immorally and doesn't put their employees first deserves to cripple.
