Let's talk about audio codecs.
What do you prefer? Do you care about licensing?
I personally download FLAC whenever I can, keep a copy for archiving and convert to Opus for listening.

i download everything at mp3 320kbits because even on my 2000€ setup i can't figure out the difference on a normal basis.
it's because most songs nowadays don't have the mastering qualities to shine in lossless formats

I just download whatever is available. I can't hear the difference between different bitrates above the "sounds like absolute shit" rate that you get on the radio and mp3s from limewire.

Why not v0?

i have to add,
DSD made a difference for me.
if you ever think FLAC is good, get a chance to listen to DSD files on jriver on a nice stereo configuration which supports DSD processing on hardware but beware, one audiophile is easily 1GB big

because i don't re-encode the stuff i download which is mostly 320kbits by default from the sources i use

>When comparing a DSD and PCM recording of the same origin, the same number of channels and similar bandwidth/SNR, some still think that there are differences. A study conducted at the Erich-Thienhaus Institute in Detmold, Germany, seems to contradict this, concluding that in double-blind tests "hardly any of the subjects could make a reproducible distinction between the two encoding systems. Hence it may be concluded that no significant differences are audible." Listeners involved in this test noted their great difficulty in hearing any difference between the two formats.

i have 2 excuses though
1. you can't just invite someone and assume to know how a piano sounds, when they didn't become a piano maker themselves.
2. it must be a song which you know in depth and i assume all contesters didn't had the DSD songs on their ipod shuffle's playlist

I do the same thing using 128kbps vbr Opus, it's more than enough for me.
