How does a 280x with 3gb vram compete with a gtx 680 4gb?
Most benchmarks I've found are only 2gb versions of the 680 but I'm sure the extra vram does help in newer titles...
Didn't you ask this a while ago? I told you that the 3GB of VRAM should be fine for a while.

I did?
Anyways, I've got a friend offering me his 280x for 120aud, which is a bit cheaper than anywhere online, I was thinking I could buy it and sell my 680 for a profit over the cost of the 280x?
You think that's worth it?

Wasn't he gonna give it to you for free? No it's not worth it.

Can you link me that thread if you're being serious? I'm curious what replies that anon/op got, might help me decide

As a previous 680 owner I can officially say that the 7970 as of 2016 is the better performing card. If you can do a straight swap id advise it

Don't have it anymore. There was an anon that had the exact same questions but he was getting it for free.
Dude just stay with your 680, your better off.
