Do you use pic related or similar on your devices? I can't

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Do you use pic related or similar on your devices? I can't decide if they help or actually male reading more difficult

Are programs like f.lux and redshift memes?
>>
It's easier on the eyes for sure
>>
>>56426691
Do you tweak the settings or use the default?
>>
"Blue light" is a literal meme when the screen still outputs blue light even when shifted to red, when every LED in your house gives off blue light, and when other spectrum of light like red are shown to effect circadian rhythm as well (light in general hitting your retina).
>>
>>56426752
I get dropped frames in video
players on win10 with flux, so I don't use it.
>>
>>56426974
>>56426651
It work fine on Linux
don't care about Win10

It's very comfy for eyes and help to don't get headache cause you work 8 hours on screen
>>
>>56426780
t. No idea what I'm talking about
>>
>>56426651
I use it on every computer I own, including the one for work. If I turn it off everything on the screen looks more crisp but it's not worth how intense it feels.

Twilight for android is good too since I'm more likely to use a phone right before bed.
>>
>>56426691
No kidding. Used to think it was placebo, but after trying it and leaving it on for a couple days I was rudely awakened when it updated itself and my screen flashed normal at 10PM on night. The sudden flood of unshifted colors almost hurts, it's crazy.

I don't know about the circadian rhythm shit but it definitely makes late night computing more comfy.
>>
>>56426651
I use it on my tn panel monitor
>>
It's comfy on my triple monitor setup along with DDC/CI backlight adjustments. Using redshift, since f.lux doesn't work with proprietary Jewidia 367+ drivers anymore.
>>
>>56426974
Who watches movies with flux on?
>>
>>56426651
I use redshift with the default configuration. I like it.
>>
makes everything look like mexico
>>
>>56426651
Make a test, use flux for 1 hour at pitch darkness, than turn it off and say if it's meme or not.. Perfect tool for long night browsing
>>
>>56427130
>DDC/CI backlight adjustments
I wish monitor manufacturers would implement this shit correctly, my Asus monitor kinda works with *some* DDC/CI controls but fritzes out on others
>>
>>56426651
Depends on what you use it for. There is no proof whatsoever that it helps you sleep, but it will strain your eyes less in the same way that turning down the brightness strains your eyes less. You could disable all green pixels and it would have the exact same effect.
>>
i used flux for about a year on windows, using redshift on linux now

i don't know if it's a meme or placebo or what, but i've had sleep problems for a long time and ever since i started using flux/redshift i've been sleeping fine and not staying up so late, less eye strain headaches too.
>>
>>56427383
Yes in pitch dark it's blinding when you turn it off
>>
>>56427484
It definitely helps when you stare the monitor for hours each day
>>
it's meme tier placebo but i do prefer it at night
>>
>>56426780
Explain light therapy then
>>
>>56426651
eyes have felt much better since making the switch. f.lux on pc machines and twilight on android.
>>
>high quality IPS monitor for best color reproduction
>fuck everything up to make it display fake colors
>>
>>56426651
definitely reduces my eye strain. i have heard some people claiming that even if it does somehow magically work, the blue light or whatever is still affecting you, blah blah blah

either way, its better to have it than not in my opinion
>>
>>56426651
I have something similar on my phone (cm13) its comfy.
>>
>>56426651

Flux is genius, it's something you'd never guess about.

It really does ease up things for your eyes by dulling blue pixels.

Phones are getting it too. I think iPhone has it, and Android is catching up. I have a gs6 from Verizon, and the only way to get flux or cf.lumen to work right is root. Fuck me, familia.
>>
>>56428562
That's why you do color critical shit during the day when normal color isn't hard on the eyes and disable flux for media and games (or just watch stuff and play games on your TV instead).
>>
>>56428612
Twilight for android.

Only problem is apps that need permissions for screen overlays won't point you to the app as the problem when they can't turn on. They'll just say you need to enable screen overlay permission when you really need to pause Twilight as long as you're using it.
