>Virgin Media ISP
>200Mb/s / 12Mb/s
>I mainly upload, therefore it's shit
>Best other ISPs can provide me with is 8Mb/s down / 1Mb/s up

Why live? Just got a letter from these fuckers saying that they are increasing prices again.

Anyone else stuck in monopoly?

Enjoy being a britfag
>>
>>56418334
Yea its shit. I might be dropping virgin purely on the last 3 months of instability.

Wonder what it takes to buy up some line and start my own ISP just for me.
>>
They're doing a Gaymer version of VIVID 200 with higher upload speeds
>>
>>56418334
You can get 20 up now on virgin with the gamer package bud I did it the other week because I host a Plex server
>>
>>56418579
It's out now.
>>
>>56418579
And higher price, obviously.
Why can't they just offer 100Mb/s up and down?
>>
September seems to be an odd time to issue you a price increase on your package as this is outside of the normal inflation review period, typically around Jan to look good on final ¼ earning reports or after April.
It would seem your introductory contract has ended which you’re on a rolling monthly package, they’ll continue to cuck you until you get a new contract which you’ll only get the annual price increase of inflation. If they choose to increase the price of “services” during your package outside of this, you’re free to cancel during the contract and say fuck off.
Coming from personal experience you’ve been delt with an account based increase which is whats really shady about VM and their viarable rate costs for same services across all accounts.
200/12 seems a lot of a typical HOME usage scenario though, if you’re feeling bottlenecked by your bandwidth then you’re obviously not using it for what typical households require. The only parity UP/DOWN speeds are available for enterprise solutions, no matter what provider.
Both BT and Plusnet have advertised 20mbs UPLOAAD as standard with half the download you’re getting currently. I’d recommend you inqure about their packages as they will obviously have high tiers available for more upload.
Tldr; stay with VM you’ll get cucked 2+ times a year out of contract.
>>
>>56418612
>not paying for openreach fttp before they jacked up the prices

>It would seem your introductory contract has ended which you’re on a rolling monthly package
Guilty as charged
>200/12 seems a lot of a typical HOME usage scenario
I live with 5 people. Each of them has a computer/laptop. I myself have a PC, Laptop, and a home server which hosts few things.
>Both BT and Plusnet have advertised 20mbs UPLOAAD as standard
I know, but my local cabinet is not fibre enabled, so best I will get is 8Mb/s / 1Mb/s

I should probably renew my contract.
>>
>>56418334
5mbps down 700kbps up, $120aud.
>>
>>56418659

It’s generally the case to just stick it out with VM which they obviously know that given the competition in your area. Relatively you’re getting a lot considering your alternative options; albeit rather stretched with 5 people.
It’s not easy to get a new contract; or even possible anymore without adding another service which will cost you more in the long term on the package and also the delivery / rental of new equipment.
Since general amendments to existing services don’t constitute a new contract, I’m not sure what changes existing customers can make to constitute a new contract. Usually it’s paired with a TERM amount of credit via an introductory offer when you start the process.
You like many others including myself are stuck. Usually you can get more out of them by bumping up a service tier for the same price or get them to match the advertised non-introductory new prices of services advertised if they differ from what you’re paying from any old packages.

>> VM cucks unite.
>>
>>56418817

True, there's always someone worse off. Most of the states in the US and land of AUS seem to get cucked pretty hard.
>>
Zen broadband has marginally better upload speeds ("up to" 19Mbps) if you care. Still not Korea-tier though.
>>
>>56418818
What I really don't understand is why my cabinet is not fibre enabled.
I live in newly built houses, a walking distance from Belfast city centre; largest city in Northern Ireland. All my friends that are living in the middle of nowhere have BT 70/20 since ages.

200/12 from Virgin is nice and stable, but it gets too expensive and I'm desperate for more upload.
>>
I've always used whatever was available in the room I rented and nothing compares to the speeds I received on campus at the time (like 50-60 mbps upload).

I was under the impression that Virgin are the best ISP in the UK that offer the fastest DL speeds from comparison tables. What are better options for:
>Internet only, no TV/landline cancer bundles
>unlimited traffic, max possible speeds, reliable
>ethical (doesn't try to fuck you in the ass by forcing adverts down your throat or 2 year contracts only to raise prices)

I don't mind paying more (can't poasibly be as much as the triple bundle)

>Increasing prices again

I don't know that feel, I'm with VM and I get a call every year with a free upgrade and sometimes a slight reduction in cost.

The joys of living in between two major cities, I must sit right on top of all these line upgrades.

I pay chump change for my 150 down 10 up package.
>>
>>56418931
I just checked what is currently offered in my eastern european commie block I am originally from.
600/60 for equivalent of £21 a month.
>>
>>56418931
Source?
>>
>>56418334
Why use an ISP that censors you?
>>
>>56418982
>source?
an ISP called "Telia" we have in Baltics.
>>
>>56418334
brits have no upload in general and the isps are crap for speed and data if you are not careful.

i get 5/6 down and 380 kbps up which is really early 2000s tier, but unlimited data 20mb down 2 meg up packages come with at least a 1 year contract here so fuck that.

Romania and latvia beat us hands down, the brits have an american attitude of getting as much money for producing cables and then ripping off the customer ala comcast.

get hyperoptic or a specialist provider if you are in the cities.
>>
>>56422371
Just checked hyperoptic.
Sweet baby jesus, 1Gb up and down is my dream, but obviously they don't operate in my city.

Virgin used to throttle our net speeds. Avoid.

My speeds are similar.

But then again, whats a super fast upload speed good for if you live in a country like US/England/Germany where you run the risk of getting sued for torrenting?
>>
>>56418334
For me it's massive packet loss, it's not our router but their end. They recognized this as an issue three years ago, they've STILL not resolved it. Sadly, is still the best ISP in the area with no data caps
