Why not hire a prostitute instead?
Spend like $250 on one of the Toshiba models and use the leftover for an uograde to your desktop, or save it. For $250 You'll have all the hardware you need to run Chrome OS and any linux distro you choose, the only concern might be storage but you can get an sd card or an external drive if you really need it.

It won't carry as much long-term pain as a chromebook, but you can get most of it over with in one intense moment, and then move on to a happy life.
Asus flip chromebook.
Get the 4gb of ram version. It also runs android apps pretty flawlessly.
