Start everything with a run prompt/keybind/start menu/terminal, don't need icons. The lack of icons is nice aesthetically but if icons actually made it easier for me to start programs, I would use them

Its more like keeping all your things you use with the desk neatly tucked away in its drawers, to be taken out when you need them, leaving just a few things or nothing on it when not in use. Keeping the surface polished and beautiful.

I have pretty much nothing on my actual desk except stuff to th sides that I need to access every day once I sit down. otherwise stuff is organized into drawers, or at least stuffed into containers so I can use the desk to work.
similarly, I have the icons that I hit once I boot up my PC on the desktop, like my internet and a shortcut to my music, and a shortcut to explorer where everything is.
