We gave them incredible amounts of shit because the batteries were non-replaceable.

Moreover, it's a more a laugh of supplier choice in Apple's case since they don't actually make their own batteries.

None of the devices will be marketed as water proof, because they aren't.
They all have areas of ingress, because you need to be able to put stuff in them, and sound needs to be able to come out.

It all comes down to pressures. No phone will be marked as waterproof because they won't be able to go more than a few meters under water without water getting in.

I think they know how to make glass screen protectors for curved screens, it just isn't cost effective because right now they'd make these big ass slabs of glass and then just stencil out for the desired phone. But for Edge phones you can't make the sheet of glass any wider than the target device because you have to make it with the curves.
So you would need more equipment, and more specialized equipment, to make a lesser number of screen protectors. It's just not worth it.

No they're not. Batteries are designed with valves and protection measures to prevent this from happening. It only happens when the protection measures fail and can lead to them actually exploding.

The expansion is the safety measure to prevent a thermal runaway, it reduces the energy density so that the conditions necessary for a thermal runaway aren't possible anymore.

It's not just Apple products that can have expanding lithium ion batteries in old devices, my old original Zune popped itself apart when I tried to charge it after leaving it on my shelf for a couple years. It didn't smoke or catch on fire, but it doesn't work anymore, Macbooks at least seperate the battery from crucial components so usually only things like the trackpad are affected.

Fires in Macbook batteries are rare because on the whole fires in batteries are rare, expanded or not.
The thing is that in many cases the swollen battery can still be used, and continuing to do so would be hazardous.
