Now that Linux is mainstream, I figured I'd move on to BSD. However BSD is gaining too much momentum already so I need to skip it straight away. What's next?

Plan 9 has been frequently discussed in nerd circles for years. It's far too popular. Almsot everyone knows it.
Byuu pls go
>>56371843
Yeah, but nerds talk about it like they talk about VAX, all talk, nobody actually ever uses it.
You can always use a popular system like Windows ironically. This gets you the same street cred as using an obscure system unironically.
Personally I use Windows 10 ironically.

‘Bare metal’ low-level communication scheme. “Talk machine code to me, sweety.” – your router, probably.

Install haiku, its sort of a beOS clone.
Haiku is a great OS to try out, but it doesn't have a lot of software. It will satisfy your hipster needs though.

most routers run linux
>>56373207
It is possible but not practical. Unstable and performance lags behind Linux. Nevertheless, both Arch Hurd and Debian GNU/Hurd are usable and work fine for average needs.
