Why does my battery do this? After unplugging it, it spikes down from 100 to 85-90 and then discharges normally. Is there a way to fix this?

It's normal OP. Battery indicators generally do this because of how batteries actually charge and don't hit 100% but consumers expect to see it charged to 100% so it's done for consumer autism.
Your phone is just dropping the charge number real fast to show the real number. 85% is pretty low for it to start showing as normal discharging though I'd expect that at around 90% lowest but it's nothing to worry about.
Mine drop from 15% to 5% with little use and I've tried different firmwares, the one of my gf was dropping from 30% to 10% until she bought a new one, so I think the battery is damaged. Sorry, pal.
