I know HTML and CSS. When I launched my newest site though I thought "I'll use Wordpress. It's what everyone uses. It'll save me a lot of time and I can focus on content."

All it's meant is that I still spend a ton of time trying to do ridiculously basic shit and my website looks like trash.

Eh, I had the same problem. So I just made my own theme with barely any html/css/javascript/php knowledge up front. And I really learned a lot from it.

I do missed a lot of very basic functions (how on earth can Wordpress not have post sorting without plugins?), but I've got everything I wanted now.

You should make your own too.
