Is Gsync worth it over FreeSync, /g/?
What justifies the price premium?
>>56282084
gsync has hardware in the monitor and actually works unlike freesync. Both must be abandoned in favour of vesa adaptive sync tho

>vesa adaptive sync
please tell me more
This is proof somebody is intentionally shitting up this board with those threads.
G-Sync works well and Freesync doesn't.
Lower input lag, higher refresh rates with low framerates and better response times.

G-sync has two features over Freesync.
1. Windowed full screen mode.
2. And quality control over sync rates.
With Freesync you are at the mercy of what ever adaptive sync controller the monitor maker decided to put in. But it has less latency and offers the same thing for a good chunk of change less. So you can buy a great monitor and not worry about a shitty controller the monitor maker gave you.

Actually if your fps drops low with Freesync it will lower the refresh rate of the monitor as well. With G-Sync it will triple the refresh rate and display repeat frames.
what stops someone from making an adaptive sync controller better than gsync?
^ start up idea btw pls dont steal

FreeSync is literally what AMD calls their VESA adaptive sync implementation though. It also serves as a "certification" for a monitor that AMD tested it with their GPUs, but other than that it's pretty much adaptive sync.

Optional DP standard that allows variable refresh rate. AMD supports it and NVIDIA does not because they want you to pay them more and to lock you in their walled garden.

>Lower input lag, higher refresh rates with low framerates and better response times
False, false and response time is related to a specific monitor, not to FreeSync or GSync.

Because you are bound to DP certification. G-sync isn't. So you have to meet the guidelines of the displayport and now HDMI port certifications for variable refresh rates.

Its not false, the freesync standard has higher input latency at lower framerates because the frequency is lower.

Congrats to AMD on the 100 display thing. Freesync is going to be in every single display port monitor in the future because its a vesa standard. At that point Nvidia will have to support it like they are supporting Vulkun right now. Future Xbones will even have freeSync. Freesync ever where. Gsync no where.

It's Nvidia dude.
For gaymers, by gaymers.
>>56282494
That's impressive. If Gsync is better than Freesync NVIDIA shouldn't have a problem getting monitors shipped with it. It will just be less prominent and more expensive like it already is.
Only problem with gsync is the lack of manufacturers using it. LG and BenQ aren't putting gsync in their high end monitors.

Both are useless gimmicks
