This is on point. 2008 MBP still sells for $400 if you stuff a SSD and 8GB of RAM into it. T530 is $250-$300 with the same upgrades.

pretty much the only way to make money selling laptops is to buy ones with no ram/hdd/battery for 1/2 price.

T61 is too fuckin old to be worth it
T520 is the last of the Ol' Thinkpad line so it will sell to /g/ memesters
T530 is the most powerful thinkpad that can be switched to the Classic Keyboard, similar to above but add $100

If you want profit, macs is gonna be the one to go with, but both of those are older than the T520 and T530

Looks like you're right, but meh. I'll be happy with getting $250+ out of the MBP just throwing in an extra 2GB i have lying around. Doesn't make much sense to put an extra $100 in parts, waiting for them to be delivered, plus an afternoon for OS reinstall, only to barely make that back.

Last I heard the keyboard was physically compatible but the BIOS was incompatible, so it doesn't actually work.

I must say though I was a lot more accurate with typing on the chiclet keyboard

I kinda wish we could have the chiclet keyboard with the classic layout, the mechanisms are honestly way better on the new one

The problem with finding a T530 in 2016 is that they're out there, but they're all base models. I'd want one with some options on it.
