Why don't CPUs drop in price? All haswells are flatlined since release, or cost even more now. Skylakes haven't dropped a dollar after being out for a year. What is this shit? Really not feeling paying launch-price on a 1 year processor.

If people pay for it at that price there is no reason to lower it . Companies don't care about you unless you somehow threaten their ability to get your money . Just look at adblockgate

intel has been struggling with their high end 14nm parts
and they've probably cut haswel product almost entirely by this point, so supply won't be that high, and the performance difference is really low.
also if you have a micro center they pretty regularly do sales on 6700k/mobo combos for about $50 or more off.
