>Has its own CPU, RAM, cooling system and chipset
Why aren't they selling modular video cards yet, that we can assemble with our own choice of pieces? When I assemble my computer, the part where I insert my video card feels wrong. It's like I'm inserting a whole pre-manifactured one-piece computer into my computer. It feels like I should be able to customize and upgrade this. Would that even be feasible?
Too complicated for the average Nvidiot.

Technically I guess you could call it a coprocessor.
Also you used to be able to upgrade ram

>get to save 30$ by getting a graphics card without the fugly reference cooler on it and install your own amazing one.
Would buy.

Seems to me like that should at least be an option. Or did they made that impossible because making the RAM onboard allowed them to make smaller, more powerful cards?
And what about coolers? You could probably overclock a GPU by adding custom coolers.
But would it even be possible to make GPUs with CPUs that can be replaced? Maybe that's pushing it too far.

That too. Those retarded gamer-appealing coolers are not only ugly, they're probably not optimal for the sake of being "design".

You can add custom coolers to your GPU, what do you think water blocks are?

this.
AMD is slowly moving towards the customizable GPU-s (new Professional cards)
