OK found a fix opened it up and the soldering gets a bit loose on the jack since I don't have an soldering iron to resolder it I rolled up a bit of tape to put between the case and the jack keeping it in position and it seems to work so far.

yes you can purchase ipods for cheaper now than you could when they were manufactured.

these are facts. imo ipods are the best mp3 players, especially the classic which can play movies and shit as well, the fact that you can replace the hdd and other parts makes them one of the best options for an mp3 player.
the clip and fiio are good too, expandable storage is nice but you can't quite make it better than an ipod classic with a 128gb SSD.

No man, I use headphones designed to stay on your ears during exercise. My headphones literally won't fall off/out or get caught so it's a non issue.

Also, when I run it helps stave off the boredom.

If you don't know how to handle your phone you shouldn't buy an expensive one. You can't damage your phone while running any more than by walking, unless you're a complete retard. And you can always leave it somewhere near you in the gym and use wireless headphones.

Why do you even pay more than 500£ for a device you'll use as just a phone? You can just buy a regular cheap phone, and buy an mp3 player, voice recorder, camera and a calculator all separately and carry it with you all day. This way you'll have a bunch of cheap devices and you won't have to worry about breaking them!

The FiiO series are solid good, but they're expensive.

The new clips certainly feel cheaper, but their battery life is immense, 20-30hours easily. Over three clips I've not had audio jack be damaged, might be because I use 90degee plug headphones though. Headphones cables I find are more likely fail.

The clip sport is okay, in mine the glue on the battery came lose so the battery was just wobbling inside the case untill one of the wires broke and it shut down, like the other anon I out a stick foam pad in there to keep it in contact and stop the battery from moving. But it can't read from local and microSD at the same time, but it's just got a huge mSD and a large single playlist on random which is enough for me.

The newer clip Jam might not even play FLAC so they got even cheaper with it.
