Did the same with a e8500. It works well as an owncloud server. Might upgrade to something with AES-NI in the future though.

A friend suggested I turn it into a dedicated arcade/classic game emulator machine. Any way to attach all this stuff to something like a raspberry pi? Or should I just break down and find a mobo for it

An emulator could be fun but you'd still need a mobo for that CPU.
Honestly do a NAS server or a FTP server and or idk- a media center type rig.
