hey /g/
Trying to save myself Time Warner's exorbitant modem fee. What's a solid modem to replace their jank Ubee with?
Also is it worth it to go get an expensive Modem/Router combo or am I better off just getting two separate devices?

>modem router combo
Kill yourself for even considering this.

Constructive enough for me

>access point router combo
kill yourself too
Anyone else have anything worth saying? Router and modem Recommendations or tips on how to kill myself?

Your ISP will have a list of compatible modems, take your pick. Just buy whatever decent AC networking AIO device there is that isn't meme bullshit (AC3200 or whatever shit, for instance).

Just make sure it's DOSCIC (however it spelled) 3.0 compliant that can handle up/down speeds of your internet subscription. I have motorla sb6121 for some years now without any issues but I'm on cumcast.
Shotgun has the highest success rate. Hanging has the seconds highest success rate that doesn't require any hard to get items. Heroin overdose for the least painful.

Seperate devices is cheaper.

Get DOCSYS 3.1 or higher.

Consumer/retail DOCSIS 3.1 modems aren't on the market yet, so you're basically asking him to keep renting a modem until they are.

He said 'or higher' so it's pretty obvious he has no clue what he's talking about.

The problem with brighthouse (a TWC company), is that if you get their echo service with upgraded 100 -150 speeds, they install a gateway with an AP. It's the only way they'll do it.

ARRIS SURFboard SB6141
Pulls full rated speed that time Warner offers
