So what news does nougat brings over cm13?
Vulkan?
>>
>>56213420
Not all that much desu. For the most part Android updates have always just added cm features into stock.
The only unique things in nougat I see are doze while the phone is in motion, better quick replies, and multi window (should be a much better implementation than was in lollipop and marshmallow).
>>
I hate nougat it's disgusting and makes me puke so I don't think I could use this because even thinking of nougat makes me sick to my stomach.
>>
>>56213420
Vulkan
Doze works while moving
Quick reply from notifications
Support for custom notification toggles (any app can create one)
Properly working multi window
Better VR support (?)
Data saver thing
Better encryption handling (alarms and shit can run even before you unlock it after boot)
Better working OTAs (they install in the background, then get swapped around at reboot)
DPI switching on the fly

While you are in some ways correct, if you look at the only relevant competition then you'll see that Android is still much more feature rich than iOS.
Also, you completely glossed over some pretty major changes in N.

>Doze works while moving
This will massively increase battery life

>Quick reply in notifications
Much faster than before

>Quick setting tiles API
Developers can make their own quick settings

If anything, I'd say that cm is losing its appeal since stock Android keeps on adopting all the features they add.
>>
>>56213665

>>56213680
I'm currently using a moto x and in fringing a slightly modified stock rom. Honestly, I think this setup is even better than Nexus phones running completely stock, since I basically have stock Android with the god tier moto features as well.
Custom Roms are getting more and more irrelevant with each release of Android though.
Debloated stock roms are the way to go imo.

It's more that Google takes so long to add shit to stock android. Take multiwindow apps, touchwiz has had that shit for 4 years and Google is only making it stock now. It's hard to get excited for new versions of android when all the 'new' stuff is stuff you already have.
>>

I never understood why not just set a slider for what color tone emoji you want to send, but instead add like a bajilion of them every time unicode updates.
>>
>>56213721
Do some research on how Samsung multi window works.
It is only compatible with a limited number of apps, and developers have to opt in for it. Android multi window is the other way around, with devs having to opt out of it.
It has also been an Android feature since lollipop I think (definitely in marshmallow), although it was hidden in the developer settings.
>>
>>56213731

>CM13

>Stock
>go into settings
>find DPI switch button

Why not just standardize the algorithm that generates them on the fly with the code you're sending.
>>
>>56213794

>>
>>56213760
Rooted users can make every app compatible with it, regardless of dev compatibility. It's only been in Marshmallow, I don't remember lollipop having it.

Even then there's a lot of apps that's compatible by default, from LinkedIn to Firefox to Adobe etc. anyway.

That's how Android N's multi window works

In this SS I had chrome on top, Messenger on bottom
And when I activated the keyboard on the Messaging it pushed chrome off screen so that Messenger was vissible

It's real useful to refer to items and take note of things, I've written lots since I bought the Note.

Not to mention sending messages, referring to maps, videos while browsing the web, cut and pasting pictures, there's a whole load of stuff that can be done. And that's just on my phone, on my Note 2014 the multiwindow is on like 60% of the time.

>The general consensus throughout the three videos is that overall, general device performance has taken a step back with iOS 9 on the iPhone 4s, 5, and 5s.

>All three videos show a general added layer of lag with iOS 9 compared to iOS 8.4.1. On the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, the boot time was increased by several seconds with iOS 9, while it is nearly the same on the iPhone 5S.

Cyanogen is failing at the OEM software business. They've never had early access to Android source code, and they never will. That means that you won't see new CM releases based on a new version of Android until a month or two (however long it takes) after that new version of Android hits the AOSP repos.

tl;dr: Nope.
>>
>>56215164

Literally no reason not to update if you're on 6.0
>>
Is there anything that N can do that you couldn't with M + xposed?

Educate yourself.
Theres RRO (Resource Runtime Overlay) which is on stock Marshmallow. Modders took that as a base and built Layers around it.
As Sony (which contributed RRO to AOSP) updated their code, and implemented advanced options, they called the new thing OMS. Which i think is baked in to Nougat. The Layers modders abandoned Layers, and based on OMS created the Substratum project, which is closer to CMTE, than Layers was.

So much for that.

Also, CMTE is based on t-mobiles theme engine code from 2.3. JFYI. It's a huge clusterfuck.

Multi window is N O T a feature
>>
>>56216564
But... it is?

feature
ˈfiːtʃə/
noun
1.
a distinctive attribute or aspect of something.

Multi window that isn't janky as shit is an aspect of 7.0
>>
>>56216588
You are wrong. It is not a feature. It is a gimmick. A mistake.
>>
>>56216607
>In marketing terminology, the term gimmick refers to a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries
>unique or quirky special feature that
>quirky special feature that
>feature

A gimmick is a feature

Exactly. What if I rephrase my words and say that it's not a gimmick? Therefore, it's not a feature too.
The joke's on you, pal.
>>
>>56216661
Every gimmick is a feature

Not every feature is a gimmick

>>
>>56216250
>>56216265

That's going to be the new main feature on Android 8. Colored software buttons.

You think you saw through my logical fallacy, but don't be so sure. You have yet to prove that this is indeed a feature.
