On my file server I store porn, anime, TV shows, movies, backups, ISOs, music, etc.

My VM host has machines for an ssh gateway, webserver, and runs automated fetch scripts for artists I like.

A lot of people set up servers as a hobby because it's simply fun. With the added bonus of being away from the botnet, you also get to backup ALL of your important documents. You don't need to rely on some shitty cloud service with your information.

If you don't care about having backups then that's your problem to deal with once your retarded two terabyte chinese drive dies on you.

So much paranoia. If i find cp, i just delete it. It's that simple.
It's not like you instantly get in trouble if cp is on your server. All you have to do is delete it if you find it.
If somebody else finds it first, they usually email me requesting that i delete it, and that's the end of it.
This applies not just for ftp, but for other things i'm hosting.
