I use realtime eslint in sublime. It spots most major errors and also has a lot of formatting rules.

The Linux kernel has over 15,000,000 lines of code and Torvalds doesn't use a debugger :^)

Unless the variable was unassigned an undefined value Webstorm should've caught the error. Otherwise it has no way of knowing what the value is at runtime
