What kind of crap you have to put up with if you run your own mail server?
Like, do services like Gmail accept your mail or does it end up in spam?

I'll get downvoted for this, but are there any good Windows email servers?

In fact, you're probably running one right now.

Been running my own mail server for a while now. I've only had one recipient automatically reject my mail, and that was someone else's home mail server. Gmail will take your mail just fine.

When you inevitably run into some issue you will fail to receive mail and never recover it.

Except of you have a virtual server running on "the cloud" for backup.
