Look at streacom cases, they act as a big heatsink for your cpu. They are nice. There was a Youtube hackintosh build in one of them, where it had to be silent af.

Anyway I have a Fractal R4 Blackout, and you can get those pretty damn quiet. Not entirely fanless, though, but near enough that with the fans turned down I couldn't hear it unless I got down on the floor and put my ear up to it.

you need to pick all your parts with this shit in mind though. Lower-power CPU, enormous heatsink so you can use a slow 120mm+ fan, maybe a fanless CPU. If you can afford to ditch dedicated graphics, or just use a bottom-end model (I think a GF 720 is the fastest thing you can get with passive cooling, last I looked) you'll have an easier time getting it quiet enough.

i have fractal design XL r2
it's great. but i hear HDDs. I think they could've done better job ob sound isolation of HDD rack.
But overall it is one of the most silent cases I had ever used

I use the Nanoxia Deep Silence 5, which would probably be a bit big for most people. They have smaller versions. Very good sound dampening. They are a bit heavy though. Made of all steel.

At least get a fanless PSU.

There's no reason to get a PSU with a fan nowadays unless you're poor or have 3 gayman video cards.

Got a Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 with a passive R9 390
So silent, had I got a beQuiet PSU, I guess I wouldnt notice anything.

I had a 100% silent PC. No fanless PSU, Scythe Ninja, Intel SSD, fanless GPU.

The thing about fanless is you want to look at last-gen hardware. Older, slower stuff produces less heat. You could go on QuietPC and ask around.

The observant will see the past tense in my first sentence. This summer my PC started having heat problems. So I put a 120mm fan on the Scythe and set the PWM so it turns the slowest possible. This makes my PC "virtually" soundless. If it's windy outside, I can't hear it.

Which has me thinking : I could probably upgrade my PC a lot if I accepted a few, ultra slow speed fans. I'm also leaning to a water cooled setup.
