What are the benefits to using Nouveau over proprietary video

There are no benefits to video or wifi drivers on linux. Get one that works and hope it keeps working.

I wouldn't use the drivers for gayming.

They would definitely benefit when using Blender, or watching Chinese cartoons because they HVEC encoders that won't tax my poor old CPU. Using the proprietary drivers would also get rid of a lot of screen tearing too.

I'm just wondering if Nvidia's official drivers have any spyware or malware in them. Wondering their drivers can take screenshots of your current session and then send them back to Novideo for analysis.
